Tsavo's soil is red laterite. Elephants dust-bathe in it, and it clings — wear clothes you don't mind washing.
Tsavo is a malaria area, with the highest risk around March–May and November–December. Ask your doctor or a travel clinic for advice.

“Our guide knew exactly the best places to go to see the animals we wanted so see.”
“An excellent safari, nice game drives and sunsets”
Tsavo East (about 13,747 km²) is flat, open and known for red elephants and big herds. Tsavo West (about 9,065 km²) is hillier and greener, with Mzima Springs, lava flows and the Tsavo West Rhino Sanctuary. Seeing both shows you two very different landscapes.
About 3–4 hours from the coast to Tsavo East on day one, and roughly 4–5.5 hours back from Tsavo West on day three, with game drives in between.
Tsavo is good year-round. The driest months, June–October and January–February, are best for wildlife; April and November are the wettest.
