Frequently asked questions

How far is Tsavo East from Diani?

About 3–4 hours by road to Bachuma Gate. From Mombasa it's roughly 100–110 km, or 2–4 hours depending on traffic.

Why are the elephants red?

Tsavo's soil is red laterite. Elephants dust-bathe and spray themselves with it, so they take on the colour of the earth they've just been in.
